Re: never been to japan
Wed, December 22, 2004 - 3:24 PMWhat do I love about Japan?
There are no loud house parties.
The streets are generally clean.
The cops no longer stop me on my bicycle.
Bookstore owners can put books out in front of their shop and no one steals them.
Someone will usually wake you up at the last station on the Oume Line. (If you don't look drunk or homeless.)
TV. TV. TV. TV. TV.
Coco Curry shops: www.ichibanya.co.jp/menu/regular/
Women dress nicely and look after themselves in general.
Your wallet usually gets returned. It may be a bit lighter, but at least you get it back.
The older generation and their generosity.
People are fairly pragmatic.
The Samurai Drama channel.
Daytime TV: Kotae Chodai.
Beer vending machine.
The massage that you occasionally get with a hair cut.
The Starbucks invasion. Starbucks put the caffeine in coffee. Before Starbucks we had Doturu. Doturu was/is over priced weak coffee in tiny little cups and shitty sandwiches lacking ingredients. Oh, and smoky. Starbucks usually has nice sandwiches, clean air, and clean toilets.
Okay, that is the short list. -

Never enough sushi!
Pig-tailed school girls in white blouses, plaid skirts and 10" tall, knee-high platform boots!
Ultraman exhibit at the Ban-Dai museum(is it still there?)
Beautiful, timeless tiny shrines & gardens!
Crazy cocktails!
Damn! I gotta go back there!

Sat, February 5, 2005 - 3:33 PMJames, "Food" is such a broad category. By food, you could mean "Sushi". And we all know that fish is not food. There is one exception, tuna fish sandwiches.
Food: by D.L.A.
Curry: Indian, Thai, and Japanese.
Chahan.
Tonkotsu ramen.
Karamucho (Potato chips).
Good Okonomiyaki.
TanTanMen.
Bisco Cookies.
Tamago Pan.
Tuna Fish Sandwiches.
Mos Burger: Spicy Mos Cheese Burger, Spicy Chili Dog, and the new Habanero Dog.
Pizza!
Did I mention Curry?
How about CoCo Curry?
Yakitori: Tan, Tsukune, and standard yakitori w/tare sauce.
Those pigeon shaped cookies. (I would kill for a box of those right now.)
Yamazaki Marble Cake. (Think I'll pick one up before heading into work today.)
Nikuman. (Standard.)
KFC: Dragon Twister.
Mister Donuts: Old Fashioned, Honey Old Fashioned, and the Chocolate chip muffin.
Okay, That is all I can pinpoint at the moment. -

Tue, March 29, 2005 - 8:58 PMWhy is it so hard for me to find a sandwich that doesn't contain tunafish, egg "salad" or both..?? (since we're talking about food now.)
