Hey beautiful people. I'm soo excited! My son is on tour with Def Tech! Have you seen him? His name is Lafa Taylor. They have invited me to come to their shows in Tokyo end of June. They will be on tour when I arrive in tokyo June 22nd. I plan to be there for at least the weekend before heading out to a friends in Nagoya then returning the following weekend for the shows. So I am asking the same old question. Inexpensive hotels or ryokan ideally close to nite life and action, or at least the Yamonate line. Other fun ideas?

Easy to get to from either Ueno station (Yamanote line) by bus or taxi or even easier via Chiyoda line (Nezu station). From the Yamanote line transfer to the Chiyoda line at Nishi Nippori.
It's not close to night life or action tho (unless you like old school tiny izakaya...which I do).
If you want to be closer to nightlife then try:

You can actually walk to Fukudaya from Shibuya or take the bus. It's super close.

Mon, June 12, 2006 - 9:38 PMI'm thinking about catching the 6/30 friday show. Budokan is a HUGE venue, I havent been there in nearly 15 years, but it must be great that your son gets that kind of exposure. You should be a proud mama :)
I checked out Lafa's music too, I like it. A lot of different styles. Very cool.
This will be a really good show!

Yes, I hear the Tokyo shows are gonna be extra special! I'm suprised they are not sold out yet, I guess because the venue is so big. Chen and Micro have been so supportive of Lafa it is really wonderful.
In the meantime I'm thinking to go out to a club or two the weekend before. I like to dance; house, funk, salsa, etc...I was thinkin of Asia and/or womb. Any other suggestions? Thanks. -

Sun, July 16, 2006 - 10:57 PMWow! I had so much fun! They ended up getting me a room in Shibuya. What an electric part of the city! It was great because by day I was able to enjoy the Meijii shrine and Yoyogi park and by nite the nonstop nitelife. But the highlite was the 2 Def Tech shows at the Budokan. Anyone go? They were filming, and the video "Lift Up" from Saturday nite is on MTV now. That's my son Lafa featured as the guest artist. I'm still in awe!
